$750K Bond For Cop In Beating Of Estranged Wife

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) ― Bond was set at $750,000 Tuesday for a Chicago Police officer allegedly involved in a domestic altercation with his estranged wife Friday night.

Officer Jason Jones, 38, appeared in bond court Tuesday after being charged Monday with aggravated domestic battery and home invasion in the June 19 incident, according to Cook County State's Attorney's office spokesman Andy Conklin.

Jones allegedly went to his estranged wife's home in the 9200 block of South Aberdeen about 7 p.m. Friday to get his mail, according to court records. His wife of 18 months, also a police officer, did not want to let him in the home, so Jones allegedly went to the back of the home and kicked the door in because he believed she was not alone.

When Jones entered the home and found another man in her bed, he allegedly pulled out his gun and told the other man to get out, prosecutors said.

The couple then got into an argument and Jones allegedly hit his wife in the head with his gun, court records said. As a result of the injury, Jones' wife has apparently lost hearing in one ear and may need surgery to correct the problem.

Jones and his wife have been estranged for the last three months, prosecutors said.
