The Cook County state's attorney's office has upgraded drunk driving charges against a Chicago police officer in connection with a fatal crash.
John Ardelean was charged Thursday with two counts of aggravated driving under the influence -- a felony -- in the Thanksgiving Day crash that killed two men. He had initially faced misdemeanor charges.
His bond was set at $75,000, which he posted.
Ardelean was off-duty when his sport utility vehicle hit a sedan carrying three Cicero men. Twenty-two-year-old Miguel Flores and 21-year-old Erick Lagunas were killed. Twenty-one-year-old Reynaldo Barajas was injured.
Prosecutors say bar security video shows Ardelean consuming three beers and four shots in the hours before the crash.
Ardelean's attorney says the other car's driver was at fault.
CBS 2 has continuing coverage of the potential transit deal.
