Illinois Soccer Coach Charged With Child Porn
At Least 100 Images, 5 Videos Found On Timothy Scholtes' Computer
COAL CITY, Ill. (CBS) ―
A paramedic and youth soccer coach in Coal City, Ill., now faces federal charges of receiving child pornography on his computer.
Timothy Scholtes, 44, of the Grundy County municipality, was charged after federal agents searched his home and computer and found child pornography.
The U.S. Attorney's Office says Scholtes received a computer video file showing three pre-pubescent boys between the ages of 8 and 10 engaging in "various acts of sexual conduct." After agents searched Scholtes' computer, they found at least 100 images and five videos.
Scholtes allegedly used the login name "boypleaser" on a child pornography Web site, according to the complaint.
Agents also seized a camcorder, a digital camera, and several compact discs and videotapes.
The criminal complaint against Scholtes also alleges that a 10-year-old boy told his parents that he refused to ride with Scholtes to and from practice because Scholtes had made a sexual advance at him. There is no allegation that Scholtes actually had sexual contact with the boy.
If convicted of receiving child pornography, Scholtes will be imprisoned for a minimum of 5 years and a maximum of 20, and would face a maximum fine of $250,000.
