FBI Seeks Suspect In Christmas Eve 2006 Slaying
The FBI is seeking the public's help in locating a suspect in the Christmas Eve 2006 murder of a Chicago woman, whose body was found beaten and strangled in a southwest suburban forest preserve.
The Chicago FBI Violent Crimes Task Force has been coordinating a nationwide manhunt for Jose Galvan, 29, since he was charged with murder in December 2006 and disappeared, according to a release from the agency. He is believed to have fled to Jalisco, Mexico, where his mother resides.
Galvan, whose last known address was 2652 S. Central Park Ave., is wanted for the murder of Juana Ornelas, 30, according to the FBI. Galvan, originally from Colorado, started an online relationship with Galvan, then moved to Chicago in December 2006.
The pair began arguing at a Christmas party, which they left together on Dec. 24, a federal complaint states. Ornelas' partially clad body was found on Dec. 25 in the Swallow Cliffs Forest Preserve in Palos Heights. She had been beaten and strangled, the release said.
Galvan is described as a Hispanic male, 5-foot-9 and 150 pounds with a thin build, black hair, brown eyes and multiple tattoos on his left arm, right hand and chest, the release said. He uses the aliases Lupe Galvan-Cortes and Jose Galvan Cortes.
