New Tabloid Version Of Chicago Tribune Planned
CHICAGO (AP) ―
The Chicago Tribune is going through a yet another metamorphosis.
The financially struggling paper now says it'll launch a tabloid-size edition Monday. It'll have the same content as the Tribune's traditional broadsheet and will be available at stores, newsstands, train stations and newspaper boxes.
The CEO of Chicago Tribune Media Group, Tony Hunter, says readers have asked for a more convenient version of the paper.
The initiative's a clear bid to deliver a blow to rival, the Chicago Sun-Times. Many commuters have favored the single-copy tabloid Sun-Times as a less cumbersome format en route to and from work.
Home subscribers will still receive the Tribune's broadsheet. And the Tribune free commuter tabloid, the RedEye, will also remain unchanged.
