ROSELLE, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) ―
A person is reportedly dead following a single vehicle crash on the Elgin-O'Hare Expressway near west suburban Roselle Monday afternoon.
The crash and car fire was reported in a westbound lane of the Elgin-O'Hare Expressway near Meacham Road at 3:04 p.m., according to an Illinois State Police Elgin District sergeant.
A Roselle fire dispatcher said one vehicle crashed into a median on the expressway and was "fully involved" in fire. A person died in the wreck, but the dispatcher could not confirm other injuries.
Traffic has been shut down in both directions in the area of the crash and was being diverted between Roselle and Meacham roads, the sergeant said.
