Four people were taken to the hospital, one in serious condition, after a four-car pin-in crash in north suburban Arlington Heights Sunday evening.
Emergency crews responded to a four-car accident on the intersection of Rand Rd. and Wilke Rd about 5 p.m., according to Arlington Heights Police Sgt. Tom Boggs.
Eastbound Rand Rd was closed as of Sunday at 6 p.m. while police re-enact and investigate the crash, Boggs said.
One person was airlifted by a medical helicopter to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights in serious condition, according to an Arlington Heights firefighter.
Three people were transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge in "not as serious" condition, the firefighter said.
"It was a pin-in crash," the firefighter said.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation, and the ages and gender of those transported was not immediately available.
