Car, Ambulance Crash In River North

Ambulance Had Lights, Sirens On At The Time

CHICAGO (STNG) ― A car collided with a Chicago Fire Department ambulance with its lights and sirens activated carrying a patient in River North on Friday morning.

The crash happened about 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of Ohio and Dearborn streets, according Fire Media Affairs Cmdr. Will Knight.

Ambulance 53 was traveling north through the intersection with a patient inside and had its lights and sirens activated when it collided with a "civilian car" that was traveling east, Knight said.

The ambulance was transporting a patient to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The original patient was taken to the hospital and the accident itself caused no injuries, he said.
