Passenger Dead After Pickup Slams Into Semi
CHICAGO (STNG) ―
A 22-year-old Chicago man is dead following a crash involving a pickup truck and a semi truck early Saturday on the shoulder of the Bishop Ford Freeway.
Cruz Brizuela, of 5220 S. Springfield Ave., was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn at 10:46 a.m., according to a Cook County Medical Examiner's office spokesman, who said Brizuela was a passenger.
The semi was parked on the southbound shoulder of the Bishop Ford near East 115th Street about 2:30 a.m. when a pickup veered into the semi, according to an Illinois State Police District Chicago sergeant.
The injured male passenger was initially taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition, the sergeant said.
The drivers of the pickup and semi were not injured, the sergeant said.
Illinois State Police had no information regarding citations against the driver of the pickup truck Saturday night.
An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday.
