2 Palatine Men Arrested In Cannabis Grow Operation
PALATINE, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) ―
McHenry County Sheriff's police arrested two men in late October in connection with a large scale indoor cannabis grow operation in the northwest suburbs.
Philip J. Koeckritz and Raymond T. Holland were arrested at a residence at 223 N. Bodwell St. in Palatine on Oct. 29 where police recovered grow lights, lamps, ballasts, tarps, plastic bags and other medium used to grow cannabis, according to a press release from McHenry County Sheriff.
A 10-month investigation that uncovered three other indoor grow operations led to the arrests.
On Jan. 18, police served a search warrant at 6712 Homestead Dr. in McHenry and found 1,500 cannabis plants, packaging materials, grow lights, lamps, ballasts and processed cannabis. The street value of the seized plants was estimated at $1.5 million. The damage done to the interior of the residence was estimated to be about $75,000, the release said.
An Oct. 20 search of a residence at 10315 Arabian Trail in Woodstrock turned up evidence of a dismantled cannabis grow operation, including equipment, nutrients, residual amounts of cannabis and thousands of pounds of growing medium. It was estimated that 3,500 to 5,000 plants had been grown in the residence, resulting in approximately $100,000 worth of damage to the interior, the release said.
That same evening, police obtained a search warrant that led them to 4508 Elm Leaf Dr. in Johnsburg. This time, 62 grams of cannabis, scales, drug paraphernalia, growing medium, lights, ballasts and fans were recovered.
The investigation is ongoing. McHenry County Sheriffs police anticipate additional arrests.
