An airport industry association says Atlanta's Hartsfield International has topped its list of the world's busiest airports followed by Chicago's O'Hare and London's Heathrow.
Airports Council International says nearly 4.8 billion passengers used the world's airports last year. The global total was 6.8 percent higher than for the previous year.
However, Council Director-General Angela Gittens said Tuesday that traffic growth has been slowing during the first months of this year.
Atlanta's airport was the world's busiest last year with 89.4 million passenger arrivals and departures. That was a 5.3 percent increase over 2006 levels.
O'Hare came in second with 76 million passengers, and Heathrow had 68 million.
