Sen. Roland Burris helped kick off Gay Pride Week by voicing his opposition to discrimination against gays and lesbians in the military.
He joined gay veterans and other members of Equality Illinois in Chicago Monday to show support.
Burris said we can't afford to exclude talented people from military service and called the "don't ask, don't tell" policy dishonest.
"It relies on dishonesty, propagating an illusion and ignoring a reality we can't deny," Burris said.
The senator did not want to discuss his ongoing senate ethics investigation.
