Boy Mauled By Pit Bull
CHICAGO (CBS) ―
An 8-year-old boy was in "very serious" condition Wednesday afternoon after he was mauled by a pit bull on the Far South Side in the Roseland neighborhood.
Police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said the boy apparently returned home from school about 3:50 p.m. and was attacked by the dog. "He is in very serious condition," Mirabelli said.
Paramedics took the boy from his family's home at 101st and State St. to the University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital, Fire Media Affairs Asst. Director Eve Rodriguez said.
Police say the dog belonged to a family friend and was being cared for in the family's yard. Chicago Animal Care and Control took the dog into custody, Mirabelli said.
The STNG wire contributed to this report.
