Warrant Issued For Shooter In Bolingbrook Murder

Suspect Karl O. Tynes Is On The Lam

BOLINGBROOK, Ill. (CBS) ― An arrest warrant was issued Thursday afternoon for a Rockford man charged with fatally stabbing a woman and injuring two men Thursday morning in southwest suburban Bolingbrook.

Karl O. Tynes, 28, who remained at large Thursday evening, has been charged in one murder and two attempted murders that occurred Thursday morning at 108 S. Lancaster Drive in Bolingbrook, police said.

Tynes faces two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of attempted murder and two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm, according to Will County State's Attorney's office spokesman Charles Pelkie.

Tynes is accused of fatally stabbing Nicola Wiliams with a knife. He is also accused of shooting Keyartred Williams with a handgun and shooting and stabbing Donnell Williams, Pelkie said.

Police responded to reports of a family disturbance and gunshots about 6:33 a.m., according to a release from Bolingbrook police.

Officers found the three victims, all residents of the Lancaster Drive address, injured at the scene, two with gunshot wounds. Nicola Williams, 36, was pronounced dead on the scene.

Keyartred and Donnell Williams were reportedly taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove in "stable condition," the release said. One of the victims was not initially cooperating with police.

A weapon was recovered at the scene and the investigation continues.

CBS 2's Kristyn Hartman reports that a woman, who does not know Tynes but is related to child who was in the home at the time of the shooting, thinks at least four kids were in the home when it happened.

"The father was injured, he was able to get out, get the kids, go next door to the neighbor's house, get the children to safety," said relative Ivieyonn Buie. "For my little cousin, I'm really scared. I know that she's terrified. I just thank God that she was able to make it out. The children are safe. I really wish the police would allow them to at least see some family members."
Buie says that she would like to see the suspect brought to justice.

Police say Tynes is believed to be driving a silver 2001 Buick with Illinois registration X148722 and may be heading back to Rockford. He is the cousin of one of the victims.

The motive of the shooting is not completely clear Thursday, but it appears to have been a family-related dispute, police said.

The incident occurred in a residential area and a witness report that one of the victims collapsed in front of the nearby Town Center at 375 W. Briarcliff Rd. could not be confirmed.

Anyone with information is asked to call Bolingbrook police at (630) 226-8620.
