Police Catch Alleged Gunman Nearby
BOLINGBROOK, Ill. (CBS) ―
A man is hospitalized Thursday after being shot in the face and wounded at a Denny's restaurant in Bolingbrook.
A man identified as Jose Perez, 25, of Bolingbrook, got into an argument late Wednesday with the 34-year-old alleged gunman at the restaurant, located along Route 53 in the far southwest suburb, Bolingbrook police said.
The gunman pulled out a small handgun and fired a single shot into Perez's face, then fled from the Denny's on foot, police said.
Police caught up with the man in a townhome subdivision adjacent to the mall where the Denny's is located, and arrested him. The weapon, a .22-caliber handgun, was recovered, police said.
Meanwhile, Perez was taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove for his gunshot wound, police said.
The incident is still under investigation.
