2 Dead, Four Hurt In House Fire Near Bloomingdale
BLOOMINGDALE, Ill. (CBS) ―
Two people are dead and four others injured in a house fire near Bloomingdale, authorities said.
The fire broke out Monday afternoon in the 24W600 block of Lawrence Avenue in unincorporated DuPage county, a county sheriff's spokeswoman said.
The victims, an adult male and an adult female, were pronounced dead on
the scene, according to the DuPage County Coroner's office. The two
have been positively identified but their names were being withheld
Monday night pending notification of next of kin, the coroner's office
said. Autopsies will be performed Tuesday.
The injured people were taken to area hospitals.
Several large mansions are located in the wooded neighborhood. According to dispatch reports, the blaze destroyed a two-story wood framed home.
Max Baer, a retired Chicago firefighter who lives next to the house that burned, says the home where the fire broke out was a single-story white house with vinyl siding. He says it to has been occupied by a series of renters through the years.
