4 Escape From Fire In Irving Park Neighborhood

Fire Sweeps Through Building On Berteau Avenue

CHICAGO (CBS) ― Four people ran from their home in the Northwest Side's Irving Park neighborhood as flames ripped through their building late Monday night.

The fire broke out around 11:30 p.m. on the first floor of the 100-by-150 foot building at 3834 W. Berteau Ave., which has residential and commercial tenants, according to Fire Media Affairs Chief Joe Roccasalva.

It took firefighters only about 20 minutes to put out the fire.

All the residents escaped on their own, but four of them were checked out on the scene for unidentified injuries.

The STNG Wire contributed to this report.
