The FBI is on a manhunt for a suburban bank robbery suspect whom they've dubbed the "Beach Bum Bandit" for his choice of outfit.
The most recent robbery occurred on June 4 at the MB Financial Bank branch at 2251 Plum Grove Rd. in Rolling Meadows, according to an FBI release.
Witnesses said the robber came into the bank and announced a robbery. He displayed a handgun and ordered an employee to fill a blue cloth bag with cash, the FBI said.
After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, the robber left the bank on foot, and was last seen riding a bicycle away from the scene, the FBI said.
The Beach Bum Bandit is also believed responsible for the May 8 and May 22 robberies of the Mutual Bank branch at 801 E. Nerge Rd. in Roselle.
Authorities describe the bandit as a white male, age 20-25, with a thin build, about 6 feet and 170-190 pounds with brown hair. He has worn a bandana or scarf around his face during two of the robberies, along with shorts and various types and colors of hats, the release said.
No one was injured in any of the robberies but the bandit was armed with a handgun. He should be considered armed and dangerous, according to the FBI.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Chicago FBI at (312) 421-6700.
