One person was killed and three were critically injured in a crash on Palatine Road in Arlington Heights.

One person was killed and three others were left in critical condition overnight in a crash in northwest suburban Arlington Heights.
The crash happened late Wednesday on eastbound Palatine Road at Rand Road, outside the Southpoint Shopping Center.
The driver lost control of his red Pontiac Grand Am and slid sideways before wrapping around a tree. There was heavy intrusion in the driver's side at the right door.
An unidentified man, believed to be in his 20s, was pronounced dead at 12:20 a.m. Thursday at Northwest Community Healthcare in Arlington Heights, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
Three others were hospitalized in critical condition. All the victims were in one car, and the man killed was a passenger. Their identities have not been released.
Police believe the driver was speeding in a 35 mph zone.
Rand Road was blocked at Palatine Road for some time after the crash.
