Architect Seriously Hurt In Fall From Scaffold

CHICAGO (STNG) ― An architect is in serious condition after falling from a scaffolding during an inspection of a Loop building Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency crews responded to the 200 block of South State Street about 3 p.m. on a report of an injured person, according to Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford.

Firefighters discovered that a woman inspecting work on a building had used a scaffold to get into position when she fell and suffered multiple leg fractures, Langford said.

A Fire Department tower ladder was brought in to reach the woman, who had fallen into an interior area that firefighters could not immediately access, Langford said.

She was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition, he said.
