Decision On Retrying Alton Logan Postponed

CHICAGO (AP) ― Alton Logan must wait until next month to find out if he'll face retrial for a murder another man has confessed to committing.

Logan was released from prison on $10,000 bond earlier this year after spending 26 years locked away for the fatal shooting of a security guard at a McDonald's restaurant in January 1982. On Tuesday, Circuit Court Judge James Schreier granted a request from Illinois prosecutors to continue Logan's case until September 4th.

Two attorneys recently revealed their former client, Andrew Wilson, admitted he committed the crime.

The Illinois attorney general's office says it has a "constitutional and ethical responsibility" to make sure all available information in Logan's case has been thoroughly reviewed.
