Abuse Suspect's Mother Released On Bond

Linda Lynch, Mother Of Gymnastics Subject

WHEATON, Ill. (AP) ― The mother of a gymnastics coach accused of molesting students is free on bond after pleading not guilty to charges she created false documents.

Prosecutors say Linda Lynch of Oswego created the documents as part of an effort to get her son, Michael Cardamone, acquitted at his 2005 trial.

Assistant State's Attorney Alex McGimpsey said Monday that Lynch and Andrea Arndt, a former employee of the American Institute of Gymnastics, are accused of creating false schedules that claim to show Cardamone wasn't at the gym when some of the allegations of sexual abuse occurred.

Arndt is charged with helping Linda Lynch create the documents.

Cardamone was convicted in 2005 of abusing seven girls and acquitted of abusing seven others. His conviction and 20-year sentence were overturned by the Illinois Appellate Court last year.
