CHICAGO (CBS) ―
We asked you to tell us what you think of Gov. Rod Blagojevich's arrest.
Send us your thoughts.
Here are your responses:
I hope he has a nice cozy cell beside Ryan!-Gene Phillips
"Great pride comes before a great fall" It's a shame he still has not humbled himself! -Erica
What he was thinking! Illinois voters were aware before the 2006 elections about his past four years unacceptable conduct. The citizens who voted him in are as corrupted as he is, so are the ones who may possible to elect, and reelect corrupted politicians, such as in the city of Chicago, cook county government. now the worst part of it is that corrupted voter have made possible the exportation of the Chicago way corruption to a national level. The Illinois corrupt way is about to repeat in the white house without any doubt. Don
I think we need another state. Make Cook County and all the crooks there a state and let the rest of Illinois be on their own to see what we can do and Cook County State can sell them selfs off to the highest bidders. Rot in jail Blogo and wife and sorry for the girls. Paula B
It's sad that we now have to focus on this. Our education funding system in this state is broken and schools are yet to receive their state aid this year. But now, our legislators have to focus on keeping our governor from doing any more damage. I hope this passes quickly so we can get back to business. Russ Goerlitz
What took so long? Weren't the useless "special sessions" with the General Assembly a tip off? Perhaps he was patterning his "rise" to infamy as "W" has. Notice how the reputation of Illinois has deteriorated as the United States has across the world? How's that 2016 Olympic dream firming up now? Green
I believe with all my heart that mayor Daley, Emil johns, John Stroger Jr, Jesse Jackson Jr should be next on the FBI list. For how long can these family dynasties dupe the people of Illinois while making a good buck for themselves. Gov. Blagojevich should resign immediately and new elections should be held. Mr. Fitzgerald please take care of these crooks and give them what they deserve. -Rodik
It is funny that the governor used OJ Simpson's favorite line? I didn't know I was doing anything wrong? We got two whackos.... Char Osborn
You only have to look at the type of people surrounding the Governor to get an idea as to what type of person he is. On the waterfront comes to mind. Is he the best that Illinois can come up with. Desmond McCarthy
Did anyone see on the news last night Mayor Daley's response to a reporter asking him what the governor should do? He responded that "he should do whatever he thinks best for the state of Illinois", and then repeated the same stock answer when asked what HE THINKS the governor should do. What is he afraid of? I think he's got a lot to hide as well and he may very well be next on the feds list. We of course all know how corrupt his administration is and the citizens of this city have been paying the price for far too long. His power has been absolute and we all know the old saying absolute power corrupts absolutely. And why is there not legislation in place that if an elected official is brought up on criminal charges that their power be at least temporarily rescinded? We do it to police officers who are taken off the street, priests and teachers who are accused of abuse, etc. The thought of the governor still having the power to decide who fills Obama's senate seat is outrageous to say the least. JMiller
How can love of children and family be given up for love of political money. And as for Children's Memorial Hospital not getting 8 million, that is disgusting and appalling and ... Mrs. Klaas
I think it smells like a set up to me . He has been under investigation and the governor is too smart to shoot himself in the foot. James Hall
I knew something was going to happen. Because the Feds were watching him for so long. We will see what happens next. Cheryl
I think it's a shame that the crooks have been getting away with corruption since Gov. Otto Kerner was sent to jail. Then Gov. Dan Walker, then Gov. George Ryan and through all Governors being in jail the corruption never ended. There should be an investigation of Lisa Madigan, Office and the corruption inside of the court system. Lisa Madigan, Chief Holderman of the Federal Court, Judge Maddux of the Circuit Court and other public officials should be forced to resign. Not the Governor. The Corruption was in the office when he received it and the persons responsible all the ones who is speaking against the Gov. Lois Trask
Blagojevich is a moron dressed in a striped idiot suit! If I performed my job this way security would be escorting me to the door! Tell him I said get out NOW, and do by a swift resignation. As a tax payer in a down economy, I'm looking for the quickest most cost effective method! I don't want to pay for the impeachment process. Barbara Oliver
I hear that the governor tried to sell the seat of President-elect Barack Obama but I have yet to hear who was offered the seat and for what amount. All I hear is of a politician boasting, I hear nothing of him receiving any compensation or otherwise. Is it against the law to boast about what you are going to do and yet never do it? Are we in such a fervor to get rid of the governor so much that we are reaching for any straws? Maybe I have not heard everything. Arnold Duran
Resign now, you can no longer govern, your decisions are no longer valid. Your focus now is on your defense. Move on. Linda
Dick Durbin can struggle now for two crooks. If we would have known before his election. Klaus
It's about time they got him the next should be secretary of state Jessie White there's issues in the CDL program that are just as bad. Glenn Cardin
It's about time, but he needs a psychiatrist as well as an attorney. He is so far out of touch with reality that it is unbelievable and would be laughable, if it weren't so sad for the State of Illinois. He has discredited an already discredited profession. Pam
This did not come as a surprise to me. Too bad it took so long. I feel real bad for his daughters. I hope he rots in jail. Michelle Peterson
King Rod looked for swag. Didn't get it ,but made us gag. Proved himself a to be a real curmudgeon. Off you knave to the dungeon!
What is the state budget deficit? Oh, let's cut the money spent on plowing & let people slide off the road into the ditches while Blagojevich stuffs his pockets!! Kelly
He has made Illinois the laughingstock of the nation. How many Illinois governors do we have to jail before Illinois politics cleans up? Bev Julien
I think the governor should step down. He has embarrassed the state, himself and his family. Step down, put your tail between your legs and take what is coming to you.
What is worse than selling the senate seat, and I am not making light of that situation, is the fact that he threatened to hold back money to Children's Mem. Hospital...a hospital of sick children. What kind of a sick animal would even consider such a thing. Patricia
I think, as a Porter County Realtor.. you should consider moving to Indiana. Our Governor/Government isn't perfect.. but they seem to be better and at least we have lower taxes and great schools. Mary Willis
He should be thrown out and hanged along with Daley and the rest of the Chicago Mob. Fitzgerald should call for either the National Guard or Federal Troops to impose martial law and clean Chicago up, like what the late Alabama Governor Gordon Persons did to Phoenix City, Alabama in 1954! Cliff Saxon
The governor needs to step down. He did wrong and he needs to pay the consequences and those consequences should be sitting in the next cell from the former Governor Ryan. Illinois is tired of the crooked politicians and we demand honesty and maybe one day we will find a politician that can be honest. Paulette
MAJOR LOSER. Sharon
Is there ANY politician in Chicago who is NOT crooked? I don't care what Obama says: he is part and parcel of the Chicago thug political scene and is just as crooked as the rest. I am so disappointed so many Americans did not see this. Justmy.02
He needs to immediately step down and not be able to conduct any further busines for the state of Illinois. It needs to end right now! Martha Brown
This is the way it is in politics. I hope the people in Illinois understand that any of the so called candidates for the open senate seat would do the same. I believe Illinois should choose someone for this seat who is not involved in politics, someone who may not have all of the "connections" to get the job, but has the interest in making our state a better place and helping its people. There are 10's of thousands of people who qualify to serve and who wouldn't have the baggage of Jesse Jackson, Emil Jones and the rest. This sort of criminal behavior has to end. Tweiman
Narcissism!!!!! glamotaki
We all new he was corrupt. He needs to step down, we need someone who works for the people of Illinois not out solely for his own personal gain. Obama should not be dragged into this as Blago was acting alone. Jill
About time! He should also have to personally fund the removal of his name from the toll way system - which he was not supposed to put up all over the place. MG
How corrupt is this government?? It is starting already to show people what we will have to expect before the new people move in. That is really scary. Ingrid Amado
Patrick Fitzgerald has given the State of Illinois the greatest Christmas gift of all, a new year with Blagojevich and his wife on the way out. Is Durbin still lobbying to get Ryan released early? It's a bad idea that looks worse now. Randy Greiner
Here we go again!! BSmith
Someone said Lisa Madigan should get the Senate seat. Also saw her talking about Blago. Funny, she's part of the problem and was put into office to end the investigations against her father Micheal Madigan. We need Fitzgerald to clean house completely in IL and get Daley, Stroger and the rest of the crooks out and bring some sense of honesty back to our corrupt state. Bob Tubolardas
I liked him now my vote was wasted on him !! Helen
What's the big deal? This is what politics is all about and Blago just wasn't smart enough to get away with a normal part of his job. Do we think this is the first time this has happened? Dave O
It should have came sooner. He is a crook and so are half the politicians and Police in Chicago. I say hang them all and let the rest who haven't been caught sweat it out. Bryan
Let's get Sarah Palin! Maybe she can "clean house"! Pat Beelow-Niesen
It amazing that he didn't think he wouldn't caught. Why do elected officials think they are above the law. It just amazing. Cindi
I am livid!! No wonder nothing gets down in Springfield when you have another worthless politician too busy figuring out how to scam for money. Rod, get a clue... or better yet get a real job like the rest of us. The people of Illinois should insist on a special election to fill Obama's Senate seat. Anyone that talked to Blogo about this position should be left off the ballot. Come on Illinois, we do not need anymore crooked, worthless politicians. Thank God someone in government showed up for work and that is the FBI. Patti, Rod, I hope you both rot in jail. Jim
I am not originally from here I am from Fla and I am a resident here and I am disgusted with a higher officials behavior to put his residents in IL in this situation. Greed takes over and it's an outrage. I believe he is guilty of sin no matter what nonsense speech he gives on changes he is going to make. He is full of lies and betrayal. He does not deserve to keep his seat. I hope they prosecute him to the full extent of the law. He is doing Just like RYAN. It is so sad. The only concern I feel is for the children. I am a parent and this scandal would put alot of emotional stress on a child. I hope they get this Governor Out Before he does far worse more damage to the state. -Connie
The whole political system is like this. I mean from here to Washington. Why do they pay millions for a post. What do lobbiest do in Washington? Everyone of them control, jobs, posts, projects, etc. It is just the teflon ones have there cronies do their bidding for them. You know I'm sure most of them. It's not just Chicago, Illinois it's everywhere. Mark Wozny
Are we so gullible to believe that only Blago is corrupt or looking out for himself in politics? When Congress votes themselves a raise then cuts back on our benefits...isn't that the same thing? The 'good ol' boy' mentality of taking care of oneself and using clout to achieve that goal is nothing new to any of us. We fight with it at the workplace, at school, in our town hall meetings...anywhere where we find strength in numbers. And if we think that Blago is the only one doing it, I believe that we need to take our blinders off and really look at this country and all our politicians. The greased palm is always in the mix somewhere, as you can see it in our own communities. So don't be shocked in what has happened, as he is the only one on the hot seat today. Tomorrow it will be someone else. Our country has been built on it, that is why it is called politics. Bobbie Gifford
I was a patient at CMH for 30 days when I was a child. During that time, I made friends with kids in my ward , some of whom, weren't as fortunate as I. When I heard the news about how OUR Governor was looking for something IN RETURN from CMH for the funds granted to them, I was appalled. When I heard he tried to get back what was GIVEN, well, that shows his true character: heartless. Carrie Ann
I am not surprised about this, but I really hit the roof when I heard that he decided NOT to give Children's Memorial the 8 million dollars...the key word is "CHILDREN"...WHAT AN IDIOT!...Hope he rots in prison with his wife right along with him. Patricia
"Illinois: Land of Stinkin'" Jean SmilingCoyote
This is the land of Lincoln, Abe Lincoln, honest Abe. What have these politicians done to tarnish our state? One step in cleaning up government must be to take out the trash & impeach the governor and take away his pension. Debbie
The feds should lock him up with George Ryan and throw away the key for both of them. HOWEVER, I think that before Blago is out of office he should name Tammy Duckworth as the new Senator. She is a minority, a veteran and a disabled American (3 for the price of 1). Additionally, she is NOT beholding to anyone! Steve G
Now that they have caught Rod red-handed selling out the State, will they go back and re-evaluate some of his other moves? The one that comes to mind is the "smoke free Illinois" law that has cost the State millions in lost sales tax revenue. I'd be curious to see if Rod and Emil Jones (among others) received any contributions from the insurance industry. John Manning
There went Illinois chance of getting the Olympics to come to the U.S. Thanks to Rob and his complete lack of morals. So much was lost, can this state ever get out from underneath the cloud of suspicion? -Joan
He says he is innocent. He thinks he is above the law. Get him out of office!!! We don't need more scandal. Put him in prison with Ryan. Put his wife away also. All he has done is cost the taxpayers money!! He is a disgrace to the State of Illinois! Cheryl
Hahaha Matt
Is this guy really stupid or just plain arrogant. The mentions of the Tribune situation surprises me as he was supposed to be a huge Cubs fan. Was he being phony about that? How can he possibly sell the senate seat, is this guy crazy? The thing that gets me the most is that he tried to "blackmail" the CEO at Children's Memorial. I thought he was so "concerned" about the health and welfare of the children here in Illinois. If he was, why go after such a first class hospital that does miracles for children who are ill. Sounds to me that he and that other crooked governor who is in prison don't care about children. Crook Ryan still has never apologized to the Willis family for the death of their kids and Gov. Blago wants money to live on from a hospital. How disgraceful is that. If I were him, I would get up tomorrow, call a press conference, and resign period. But I'm sure he won't because if he stays in office he will have plenty of the taxpayers to money help him fight his legal battles. And, how much of a phony is Dick Durbin. Last week he wanted to help get Crook Ryan out of prison. Now today, he wants to form a committee to impeach Blago. Isn't amazing that this guy talks out of both sides of his mouth. If I were him, I would walk very carefully on ice. One slip, and he too will fall like those two crooks. Terry
Stroger should be next. -Aman Barakat
This is not surprising at all what do the citizens of this state expect from the Chicago Machine. Blago has been under suspicion for years and his blatant comment at the rally on Monday shows his disrespect for his office and the legal system. How far will this go and what far-reaching effects are going to be felt by the taxpayers. Blago should be forced to pay / repay all he has taken include impeachment costs and re-election costs. Gerold Lee
Blago should go to work for Cheny. Both have similar qualities. Bruno
It's about time. Catch the rest, and we'll be better off in these times. maybe Blago can call Durbin for help. That seems to be norm. Steve
Illinois/Chicago is the most corrupt in the country. Daley is also under investigation. If government seats are appointed, will Caroline Kennedy be buying Hillary's in New York? Wasn't Lisa Madigan put in office by her father to stop the investigations against him and his croneys? Bob T
There will be a storm of bad publicity and vows to reform but the "people" of Illinois will, again, elect politicians from the same mold as all the others. Why? - Ed
Impeach him NOW !! Take a poll and lets us know what the majority thinks
Good. Marcus Rood
Thanks for your bleeping support for Maryville scumbag! Obviously...doing so would not have filled your bleeping pocket...beat it! Enjoy your 3rd home in prison. MS
Thank God for U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald. He reminds me of Kevin Costner's character in the movie "The Untouchables". - Moi
Who is senate candidate number #5? I hope it is not Emil Jones, big trouble if it is. That is the real question that needs to be answered. Kyle
HOORAY! websubscribe
This smells really bad. I know how the investigating federal agents work. The fact that Gov. Rod Blagojevich is being charged with corruption charges is the most ridiculous scam that is being pulled off! Our infamous federal governmental investigation tactics are more crooked then the same ATF agents that help solve old murders by paying off informants. Anyone can be wire taped and that tape be altered to say what needs to be said in order to incriminate the person under investigation. Isn't it strange that the words arrested Governor is in the same sentence as being an embarrassment to the newly President-elect who has distanced himself since all this hoopla has started for our Governor? Also to imply that this shines a light on the old-style corruption in the Chicago political caldron from which Obama has emerged is just the damage that the republicans who want to defame our newly President-elect are hoping for. The race is over with! We have a new group of people in the White House who are gong to make a difference and it looks like the republicans will be kicking and screaming all the way into 2009 while they try to ruin more lives like our Governor. Margie Mack
What has he done that is so much worse than any other politician in office. They are promise this office for a person to get another office. Do you actually think Obama isn't doing the same thing with his cabinet right now? get serious, happens with every President also. Jeri Rburn
It amazes Me that We haven't changed the definition of a bribe as Our Politicians have made it legal under lobby and political donations. I guess it's ok as long as You don't get caught. I think people like him envy all the money lobbyists put in the pockets of Congressmen and Senators. Robert Kohnhorst
Innocent until proven guilty? Come on! Getting caught on tape pretty much proves guilt. The idiot should be impeached just for being so arrogantly stupid. And, sent to prison for a long, long time. Jill
Is it true that the prison that these people go to has a wing of the prison named "Illinois Governors row" ?? Harvey Adkins
Does George Ryan need a cell mate? Thank God this moron got caught. - David Goodpaster
When the "system" stops allowing the politicians from constantly getting
away with stealing from us, will this stop. Unfortunately, it's the same politicians that make the laws that let them go free. They must be prosecuted just like if they were a regular tax-paying citizen and serve their entire sentence. No more pardons. No more leniencies. No more breaks. Rod must be punished severely to send a message to all the other crooked politicians, and there are many, that we are sick and tired of this and won't take it anymore! - Karen L.
When he knew the Feds were after him for selling jobs, he blatantly went ahead with his plans to sell a Senate seat. His audacity is mind boggling. He should be forced out of office before he can do anything else that is so stupid! - Joan Lipsig
If we might paraphrase his campaigne slogan, "What was he thinking?" How could he be so incredibly arrogant? - Al & Karen R
Thank God! He is finally done. - Tim
It's about time. Should have happened long ago. Maybe someone should check to see why Blagojevich closed so many historical sites in Spingsfield and elsewhere. He's trying to destroy our state capitol and anything he can get this hands on. Now if we can only clean up the rest of the state (Todd, Daley and anyone else) - dee
It is important to remember that one is "innocent until proven guilty". Unfortunately, because of the mass media coverage of this event, the Governor is already seen as guilty and many people believe he should immediately resign (or be impeached). So, does this mean he is "guilty unless proven innocent"? What does this say about our laws if people are instantly seen as guilty the moment they are charged? Despite the horrible allegations against the Governor and how they impact the State of Illinois as well as the country, I am extremely disappointed the way the broadcast media has over sensationalized this situation. I feel that the media is perpetuating the negative attitudes about politicians in the US. So many people today watch the news and believe everything they see and hear. The details that are offered up are extremely one sided...Jaded. It would be great if the 'news' was presented in an unbiased way so that the public could make up their own mind. That being said, I believe that justice will be served. If in fact, the Governor was tape recorded conspiring and/or bribing potential candidates for the open Senate seat, then he deserves to be punished, just like anyone else. It is an absurd notion that the Governor would allegedly behave this way. It is absurd that anyone would ever think they could conspire and/or bribe when they hold such a high political office. How could anyone NOT think they would get caught? If in fact this is all true, then I would say I feel mostly for his children. His wife, on other hand (if she did and said the things that are alleged on the wire-taps) then shame on her. Any wife (or husband, for that matter) has a responsibility to be a team player, but more importantly, support their parter down the straight and narrow. Their poor children and the role models they have. What has happened in this country? - J.R.
He was not above the law. - Michael L. Simmons
I think it is a disgrace. Everyone involved including his wife should receive the severest penalties allowed under the law.Our country is falling apart. We've lost respect around the world. America is in a crisis that demands accountability from our crooked politicians and so called leaders. The people of Illinois seem to share the same incompetence as republicans when it comes to choosing honest and competent leaders. - ldmelville
Rod needs to live within prison walls for a long time. - Katie Lane
OK you got Rod now how about getting TODD now and start fresh in 2009 - Jeff
I think this shows that our justice system still works to some degree. This governor has shown himself to be ignorant, arrogant, corrupt, and at times a complete moron. In fact, every law he has pushed through on his own initiative should be considered null and void (or at least seriously reviewed) because it's a high probability that the motive for getting a law passed was to gain money or some kind of profit for his own personal gain. - Jeff B
Have lived in 11 states and in the three years I have lived here. It has been apparent from day one the level of corruption and fiscal mismanagement in IL and particularly Cook Co. Though during the last election for governor you did not have any real viable option to select. Though it does amaze me that the residents of the state have tolerated the blatant corruption and mismanagement for so long and will am sure continue to do so. Do you still think the 2016 Olympics are not going to cost the residents anything? Keith
I'd vote for US Attorney, Patrick Fitzgerald, for our next Governor. He made the case. Thanks for the long and hard work. Simple, Good Vs.Evil Pat won! Noel Thomas
Realizing he's innocent till proven guilty, the gov has obviously watched too many gangstah movies. Who does he think he is, Vito Corleone? Do this favor for me and you could be a senator? If found guilty, the gov does not deserve to be on the dumbest criminal list; those individuals are obviously deficient. The gov isn't dumb, he's merely unbelievably arrogant and egotistical. Ryan needs to do ALL of his time too - he too "did the crime." Linda
I think nothing of it I do not believe that he is guilty of these charges.every since he honored the senior citizens free rides on the C T A, they have been pressing him on everything that he will say or do .some of those politicians. that are in office should not be there.they are not for the people of illinois.he is I like him whatever happens.for a long time they have been trying to get something on him.I think that it is so unfair of what they are trying to do to him.also that Fitchgerald guy is only trying to make a name for himself. Jean Jones
I think that Governor Blagojevich is staining the name of Illinois politics and is an embarrassment to the whole state. Not to mention stupid, if he had just laid low after he knew the FBI and authorities were into him, he wouldn't be in this kind of trouble he seemed to get himself into. So much for cleaning up what George Ryan left behind. However, at least the state is aware of the garbage politics that Rod Blagojevich has been guilty of. Jason Wieder
There was a day and age when television stations offered an editorial opinion as part of their news program. I would highly encourage this station to do a special editorial opinion tonight. The Chicago Sun Times, Chicago Tribune, and the Springfield State Journal Register have all written editorials this afternoon calling for Governor Blagojevich to resign immediately. Take responsibility CBS, make the call for what is right for Illinois. Glen McCarthy
I am so glad. Linda Theis
Is anyone surprised? The arrogant jerk needs to resign no later than tomorrow. Helen
As a blood relative of former Illinois native & U.S. President, Ronald Reagan, I hereby THANK and CONGRATULATE U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald, his office, and all those involved in this investigation that culminated in today's actions, and PLEASE KEEP UP YOUR DUE DILIGENCE in this, and all your other important matters - I ask ALL ILLINOISIANS and OTHER INTERESTED PARTIES to stand with me in calling upon Gov. Blagojevich for his IMMEDIATE RESIGNATION. It is the ONLY RIGHT and JUST thing to do. For yourSELF, your FAMILY, your ANCESTORS, The people of the State of Illinois, and the United States as a whole. DO NOT WASTE ANY MORE OF OUR PRECIOUS FEW RESOURCES IN OBSTRUCTING JUSTICE!- Keith Andrew Dart
This is not only horrible, but it is frightening. Someone who would do something so brazen in the wake of the investigation of other alleged crimes is capable of anything. I feel sick having voted for him even for the first time. Irma Courtney
The residents of Illinois should think next time they vote for a Governor. You can't judge a book by its cover. Why was it so obvious to everyone but those who voted for him. And those who did vote for him, I know where a bridge is for sale. Another great day for Illinois. Jack Woods
The corruption of his administration always was obvious now that the cat is out of the bag and the governor was caught on tape bad mouthing the president of the United State he just committed political suicide!! Celestino Rivera
I'm torn. We've ALL known about "pay-to-play" for years of it's possible existence. First I'm furious. The extent of these charges are perverse to say the least. How could someone be soo blatant without someone saying something years ago? Why did it take this long? Second, I'm very sad. I keep thinking about the governor's two children. They will be the ones who suffer in the end. Third, I'm disgusted. Some of these allegations turn my stomach! How could we let someone violate our good state's name?
-Norma
I knew years ago this guy was a crook, I even told my son that. Wish I could run for that position, or someone like me. That's what we need somebody for the working people. Joe Siciliano
The best news is that after Bush sees this no way will he pardon George Ryan. Fred Paternostro
I am so disappointed with the way our officials have been so corrupt. I was not for him when he was elected and this has just confirmed my thoughts of him. The light that this has put on the state of IL, is sure another sad day for all of us. What is happening to this world. Andy
I am so disappointed with the way our officials have been so corrupt. I was not for him when he was elected and this has just confirmed my thoughts of him. The light that this has put on the state of IL, is sure another sad day for all of us. What is happening to this world. Carla Billinger
What a stain on the already corrupt political system of this state. Now the remaining politicians must act quickly to get this "pile of dung" out of office and out of power. This is yet another disgrace to our state. First Daley (on again, off again corruption around him), then former Gov. Ryan, then Stroger JR. making a laughing stock out of the City Council and appointing his entire family to high paying jobs - then Durbin with that pathetic display for Sentence Commutation for Ryan, now Blagojevich. I hope the voters of this state realize that voting the PARTY LINE, the RACE LINE, or the NAME LINE - simply must end and END NOW! Lynn
Patrick Fitzpatrick does FINE WORK. Since 1993, with Gotti, then another great Governor, then terrorists, then LIBBY. He is fair and precise. OBAMA is lying through his teeth, and getting away with it. How much longer are the American people going to keep their heads in the sand???? bpower
I am not surprised. I am surprised that he allow himself get caught. Corky W C
I think we may be missing the bigger picture. My Mother first told me that the people you associate with will tell others who you are. You cannot pal with crooks if you are not a crook yourself. The Bible tells us that bitter and sweet water does not come from the same tap together. So we know these people are Obama's "friends" and who he socialized with. Birds of a feather will flock together. And I think time will surely reveal that Obama is of the same character as these people I just hope this is revealed before he ruins this country. Joe Duesel
I hope that the investigators follow all leads and put the crooks in jail. Was Obama in on this deal. I would bet that the higher ups were in on this deal. Lawrence Brown
I'm appalled! This man is totally corrupt. The state legislature should hurry down to Springfield and begin impeachment proceedings against the governor-John Sawilchik
So allegedly he was doing this because of financial strains? Who doesn't have financial strains right now? This is exactly why our country is in a Financial Crisis because of Greed and Want. I am so glad I never voted for him. I do think Lt. Gov Pat Quinn would do a much better job then Gov Blagojevich's has ever done. I also agree with Sen. Dick Durbin that a special election is the best way to decide who will take over the vacant Senate seat. How soon can they get him out of office?!?!?! He should have never been there to begin with. Kendra Neal
It seems like this is way beyond stupid, hard to believe it is true, will have to see how it shakes out. I did not vote for him, but he really can't be this dumb, can he? Glenna Widicker
Why doesn't Durbin appoint Ryan to take the Obama seat? I am sure he could give a great reason to do so. They are both crooks! bill carlson
I am originally from ILLINOIS BORN AND RAISED there until I moved to northwest Indiana. I am in total disgust that my hometown has gone to the DOGS ,with people like him it truly hurts. I am not surprised that Blagojevich got Busted and he deserves it where it counts. I also hate to say this but you can't buy things to make you happy, you have to earn the happiness and he is not a very happy person so he thinks he can buy happiness. I also grew up around politics and i never liked it one bit but i know that we the people need better people to run the country or the states and that includes governors or whoever. Again I a person who wants to bring a child into this world would like it if it was better run and not so evil when it comes to the agony that politics say or do. And I am proud to have elected OBAMA as the President but the dangers of getting caught to sell the seat in the SENATE are unjustly. Christmas is just around the corner and I have so much pity on his kids who have to endure all this because of his actions and his words, my heart goes to the them and I hope the kids will have a wonderful CHRISTMAS. -michelle
Blagojevich is a corrupt idiot. Kyle
I have lived in various states and he is the worst governor I have ever seen. We as Illinoisans are very proud of President-elect Obama and here we have this for a governor. I don't feel he should be given the choice to resign. He should be FIRED like any other criminal who gets caught. As for the FBI calling him to say they were coming over, do they do that with drug busts? Of course they don't, so why should he when he is just as bad. The police and FBI have taken criminals to jail in nothing but boxers, however they allow him to dress and take care of some business before taking him away. It isn't fair. HE IS JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER CRIMINAL ON THE STREETS AND SHOULD BE TREATED AS SUCH. Sabina Arnold
I think a really talented rap-music lyricist could put some quotes from the Fed report into a song. This lyricist would be very careful to include only the bleeped words that were actually in the tapes. Then when it came out and prudes complained about the words, the singer/lyricist(s) could defend themselves with the fact that these are straight quotations.-Jean SmilingCoyote
It's about time. Blago is a narcissistic megalomaniac. When is Patrick Fitzgerald going to get the other narcissistic megalomaniacs -Daley and Stroger? When are the people in the City of Chicago, Cook County and the State of Illinois going to wake up and take back control of their government instead of continually putting these political hacks, their sons and daughters and cronies back in office. It's just sickening. I can't wait to retire and move out of this state. S. Rogers
It is about time! The corruption in this state is appalling. Are there no elected officials left that can follow through on the oath that they make when they accept their elected position? I hope he does the full 30 years. As a side note, they should not let Ryan out early either. If you do the crime, you do the time. Thank God for the States Attorney! - Dan Herring
IT'S ABOUT TIME!!! WHO'S NEXT?? SHOULD BE INTERESTING TO SEE WHO ELSE GETS BROUGHT UP ON CHARGES (MAYBE EVEN A PRES-ELECT??). - Beth VanCleave
It is just another example of the sale of American Values. - Laurence Stom
Throw the elitist into the same jail cell with George Ryan - they can have a contest as to who is the most arrogant piece of dung in Illinois history. - Bill Starkweather
It's about time for a shakedown on corruption, you would have thought Mr. Blagojevich would have taken a lesson from past politicians that got caught for being crooked AND stupid, and kept his nose clean. It certainly is a tough time for the economy and the respectability of IL government now. I still think Chicago is a great place to live and hope our President-elect Obama will be able to make all of America the best country in the world again.- Eric Koehler
I turned the radio on this morning to hear the weather, but what I heard was the news that the Gov. had been arrested. Immediately, I thought they finally got him on the their on-going investigation that was being conducted, only to learn it was a whole different charge against him. Well that goes to show another stupid politician in this world of criminals is about to go down finally! Not just for greed- but for the love of money. I say 1 less crook off the street. Even though his actions were taking place behind closed doors and on the phones, he's still another criminal off the streets and in the offices where politicians think they can do "ANYTHING" just because they have some power. As for his wife, the State's Attorney should take her down with him and throw them in the same cell where they deserve each other. I just feel it for their kids-but hey they have fam. members that might give and teach them an honest way of living as they grow up. I regret voting for him. Isn't there any honest politicians around these days. How dare him. I can go on and on but let's save tax payers money and get him impeached quickly. NOW!! Oh! if he ever gets tried and convicted, do you think Sen. Durbin will ask for a pardon or commutation on his sentence to our president? That will remain to be seen hmmm! Maria Riveria
I think this is outrageous two governors who let down the good people of the state of Illinois maybe we should elect a criminal who wants to go straight. - Hugh Gallagher
I can't believe our Governor still engaged in such reckless actions! I hope he doesn't taint our beloved Barack Obama. Doesn't he care about our state? - Susan Hayunga
Is Daley next? He ought to be! Dave
The politicians seem to know more and want to appoint the empty seat, I agree, but in good faith. Do it on their own time, don't charge the tax payers more a special sessions just because you can't keep your own house clean. Lisa
It seems that Democrat Gov. Rod Blagojevich, Alaska Republican US Senator Ted Stevens and Republican Gov. Sarah Palin have a lot in common. Rias10
What's with this Durbin? Is he in on it? How could he possibly try to slip by us a release for Ryan? Is he next? -Ron Hankin
It's about time! Why did it take so long????? -Kath
I wish he were nicer. -Enoch Arden
It's about time there going to do something about him.The sad thing is,how are we to trust any one as governor? I also think we should have a special eletion to fill Obama's seat in the senate. -Lydia
what was he thinking? he knew he was under investigation. it goes to show the absolute arrogance this man has. i think as punishment, we should all be able to drive through the i-pass at his expense. his name is up there, let him finally pay for something. and just how much does his wife know of all this? no wonder his father in law was at odds with him. disappointed again!!! -rkraftdiv2@aol.com
I was disgusted with the corruption in the state of RI where I used to live. Then, I moved to Illinois and here we go again. I wonder if the Governor here knows any of the politicians back there and maybe they took lessons from each other on how to cheat the people and enrich themselves.-Katherine
Although we need to wait for a trial at our expense, the guy can't govern with this over his head. The court will likely find what I already suspect - Blogo's just another sleazy guy feeding at the public trough. Between his rare flights to Springfield from his north side refuge and the trial - he's cost this state too much already. A friend of mine put it best...vote out the incumbents! -Todd F.Dykton
I think it's long overdue. The sad thing is I believe there is a lot more corruption going on in our state and local politics. The Chicago machine has to be broken up. To think ROD just became a crook is naive. This has been going on for a long long time. Jim Cooper
It's the tip of the iceberg. Illinois political corruption is world renown. It's a tale about how a community organizer can become president. Bob
Blagojevich needs to be impeached immediately. He's dishonest, smug, and an embarrassment to the state of IL. He has no leadership skills and should not be allowed in politics. He is an idiot and deserves to be in prison. -sue krause
The city of Chicago has been corrupt for too long. Thank goodness we have Fitzgerald and the FBI. Voters need to look into our representatives more closely. Sen. Durbin wants Pres. Bush to pardon Ryan and I feel Mr. Ryan needs to stay in prison. The Willis family has been destroyed because of his actions and Durbin needs to let justice prevail. Gov. Blagojevich needs to be impeached and Chicago needs to clean up their act starting with our Mayor. Toni
I am disgusted and dismayed to say the least. I feel like he betrayed the trust of the people of Illinois. I moved here about 11 years ago from Maine and I have never in my life seen such political corruption as there is here in Illinois. The Governor should step down, but if he doesn't, he should be impeached. It's not acceptable for this man to remain as our Governor. The Lieutenant Governor should take over, and may I suggest Lisa Madigan as the replacement for Barack Obama in the Senate. -Sally Jamieson
ONE WORD: DEPLORABLE!!! R.M. Brady
I'm 59 and for years I have chosen not to vote...this is why!! I just feel too many politicians use their office for their own benefit and not for the people who elected them. It is sad when it is to this extent. The quicker he is pushed out of office, the better! It's time politicians shape up and serve the people and not themselves...I am so tired of it!! Susie
Why hasn't anyone interviewed Judy Bahr Topenka? What was Rods campaign slogan? Hey Rod, Whattya Thinkin? - Bob Groszek
Blagojevich always seemed ignorant and suspicious. He seemed as if he was hiding something. He represents the state of Illinois so poorly, it makes me sick. I am disturbed at this horrible man. It seems to me he lives in his own world. Hardly anyone stands by him. He knew he was being watched. Stupid move. I am just a Jr. High School Student, and even I can see through this sick, ignorant, clueless man. This intrigue was not funny. Stupid, not funny, stupid. -Katherine Hansen
I am SICKENED by the betrayal and arrogance of a public official who once humbled himself and solicited campaign funds on promises and pledges of cleaning up a corrupt government (aka George Ryan), and who has now, himself, immersed himself head first into the very thing he promised to correct! He shook hands, made promises, solicited campaign funds under (now) false pretenses! Is there such a thing as honesty in government? Blagojevich needs to resign - which no doubt he is too arrogant to do; thus, he needs to be impeached. Either way, he can no longer be the Governor of Illinois. Dick Durbin is absolutely correct in the urgent measures he is taking with respect to the Senate seat's urgent VOTE rather than appointment. Now we need to make an urgent movement for the Governor's position. It is clear that Blagojevich cannot remain even for another day. Incidentally, so you do not think I am biased or a radical republican, I DID vote for Blagojevich, but now do feel betrayed by his dishonesty. -Wendy Pelegrino
I heard it this morning and I laughed and cheered. It's about time the "big dogs" get beat with a newspaper something tells me Daley is next. It's about time the Illinois people wake up - and say that's it!!! Wipe out the Illinois government and start over if they (the politicians) are doing a good job they will be re-elected. I also think if there is an opening for an elected spot there should be an election for the spot not someone appointed to it the people of the state/county HAVE to start watching the government like they watch us who watches the watchers?? the Watched!!!! Brian
I met him and he is a really great guy but what he did is wrong and very immature. He will learn his lesson the hard way. Sorry buddy. - Freddy Huerta
If you want to make everyone happy they should send him to jail now, then Bush can pardon both him and Ryan. Bob Ignowski
Now he will get a haircut and more. - Norbert
Let's Help America... You're just a sore looser. -SpinCin
Its about time.. but thanks for the open toll way system!!! Ashton
I think that most of the politicians are crooks. They waste too much time and money rubbing each other instead of doing real true good for our State. I'm sure if they real want you out they'll find a way. It is pretty silly that he would do what they say and there's probably more to the story that we will never know. Yet, this is the best system we have today to run this state and country as compared to the world. anonymous
I believe this arrest points to the corruption that seems to me, to be intertwined with the State, County and City corrupton. -Onofrio Loconsole
I voted for Topinka. You people who voted for Blagojevich should have known better.
Let's Help America... You're just a sore looser. -SpinCin

There should be wing in the state penitentiary dedicated to Illinois governors. That seems to be the career path: straight from the governor's mansion to Cell Block G. When Barack Obama won the presidential election, people in Illinois were all smiles. Blagojevich has managed to turn those smiles upside down with his selfish and disgracefully arrogant behavior. I don't see how he could effectively run the governor's office from this point forward. If Gov. Rod doesn't resign [which I doubt will happen], then the state legislature should impeach him immediately. P.S. - Mike Flannery is too reserved. He should let loose and tell us how he REALLY feels about this situation :-) Robert Herzfeld
I hope that he disappears into the criminal justice system, and that he gives testimony to all the accounts. I believe he is corrupt, and a Illinois politicans have shattered all confidence in tways of the powers that be!-Fannie
As an attorney, I believe that he deserves the best defense possible. However, if the feds have the goods on him, he better cop a plea before someone else does, and then testifies against him. Phil
I am glad to see the beginnings of cleaning the political cess pool in Chicago! I would not be surprised to hear, in the not so distant future, connections with Obama. LetsHelpAmerica
Blago's arrogance amazes me...try to pull this off while already under suspicion.... This is a great day for Illinois. We have taken criminal #1 off the streets. Ken
I am truly saddened by the news. This reminds me of operation silver shovel where the 25th alderman was arrested. I thought of him as a rising star in Hispanic politics. I guess not.. -sdelatorre
When an elected public official commits a crime it is treason. John Q. Public
I think everyone is innocent until proven guilty in the court of law, and I agree with Bob, I think Todd Stroger and Mayor Daley should be investigated next where is all the money from the city and county going? NT
How embarrassing. Is there no integrity and accountability amongst public office holders? Why has no one in public office reported on this crook or commenting on his behavior? Are they all co-conspirators? Thankfully the Feds are watching. Dave Kalet
It was only a matter of time before the Governor was arrested. The next step for prosecutors should be investigations of state agencies and their procurement practices. They have been vehicles for the Governor to award friends for years. Chuck Stewart
It was only a matter of time before this putz was going down, I'm sure they have a lot more on him then they are letting on. They may as well investigate his wife too....she's no angel. They'll look great in matching jumpsuits.
Veronica
Here we go again ,will it ever stop Governor Ryan you have a roommate. Move over. CornelWSmith
I'm moved to comment but it's hard to know where to begin. The complaint reveals everything we've ever suspected and read about RB, and much more. The extent of his overwhelming greed is truly astonishing, but more shocking still is the dehumanization he displays toward everyone. In RB's binary universe, a human being is only recognized as a vehicle for personal enrichment. Those who don't play along are dismissed with disgusting curse words, particularly startling in the case of President-elect Obama. What do you even call someone like this? The scum of the earth? I'll submit this: borderline psychopathic. He shows the symptoms. This individual's every action is defined by an intensely focused self-interest, untempered by any concern for others. He seethes with it. No empathy, no interpersonal feelings, pure narcissism. I hope they lock him up for the rest of his pathetic life and he goes insane and hangs himself with his dirty underwear.
Matthew Savard
How much is it going to cost the state of Illinois to have Blagojevich's name removed from all the IPASS signs along the Illinois Toll way? Was that a complete waste of money or not? HANG HIM! Monica
Another black mark on the state of Illinois. What are these people thinking - they won't get caught? MM
I am not surprised. I read a series of articles called "Operation Board Games" months ago, but it never picked up steam in the media. Unfortunately, I fear there is going to be a scandal before Obama is even sworn in. While there are no allegations being made right now, and I'm not saying there was any wrong-doing on the part of the president-elect or his team, anyone who has been around the block knows there's going to be questions asked by reporters and most likely an investigation, especially since Obama contradicted what Axelrod said two weeks ago. If "Troopergate" warranted an investigation, I can only imagine. Just what the country and the democrats didn't need. SIGH! MK
Todd Stroger next please! Bob Janski
Why can't Illinois elect an honest and ethical governor? Throw him in prison!!! Rick Danciu
Hannity just had two clips of Obama, the one that states he has had no contact with BLAGO ABOUT THE SENATE SEAT AND another one within the last week in which Obama says he has spoken to the Governor about the senate seat? wow, this is coming apart quick..Obama man, all you had to say was yes you had contact, you didnt have to lie today..very bad move. Your on the record saying you did have contact, and now today you say you didn't? -bpower
I am truly saddened that the people of Illinois and United States would compare Obama to this crooked individual. What has Obama done to even deserved being classified in the same sentence as the Governor. Is it is simply because he is a resident of Illinois and holds a Senate seat for Illinois. Wow - I am embarrassed by everyone who thinks like that. Then all individuals who hold a public office are crooked - hhmm not so smart an idea! I believe Obama could be the change our Great Nation needs or at least he can get the gears moving to facilitate change. Michelle
Our senator from Illinois heads to the White House, while our governor may head to the jail-house. Life is all about balance. Paul Nowak
You guys are competing with us for corrupt officials! Tess from New Jersey
He deserves to be behind bars for a long, long time. I saw someone already posted G-Rod's prison cell workout online: http://www.holosfitness.com/workouts/view/24/Governor-Blagojevich's-Prison-Cell-Workout - Greg Stallkamp
This is a letter I sent my state senator today regarding my concerns. Thanks. State Senator, I would like to discuss briefly my thoughts and concerns regarding the recent allegations of Governor Blagojevich. I feel that for as long as I can remember, people have associated Illinois and Chicago with corruption. I am hoping that you and other Illinois politicians will see this as an opportunity to change our government for the better. Just as Barack Obama has talked about change in Washington, I firmly believe we need immediate and decisive action to bring change to Illinois and Chicago. The people of this great state can not afford to have a government that does not put their interests first, especially in these difficult economic times. I hope that in light of recent developments you will push for impeachment of the Governor. Whether he is convicted or not, I believe that the Governor should resign immediately. It is frightening to think that while in prison Blagojevich could appoint our next Senator. Senator, please take any action that you can to push for impeachment and to change our state so that, as arguably our states most honorable politician Abraham Lincoln so eloquently put it, "government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth" William
Now, let's get Daley and Stroger out of office and maybe Chicago/Cook County/IL will be a nice place to live again. And why hasn't the Gov's wife been arrested? Hopefully she planning living arrangements for the girls as she's next--such a shame. Lynn
I've been willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but if these allegations are true, not only is he a criminal, perhaps the worse we've seen in a long time, but perhaps Michael Madigan is correct and he is mentally ill as well! I pray for his children growing up with parents like these. J. Miller
IT IS ABOUT TIME. The media is acting shocked and downplaying the implications. Rezko, OBAMA, Blago are ALL CONNECTED. We need to get out of this DENIAL PHASE. bpower
Our state has been paralyzed long enough without this additional burden. The current Governor needs to be removed in order for the state to finally move forward in solving highly complex problems and issues. John Tobolski
I think its about time. I just hope they can tie Obama and Blagojevich together and get both crooks out of office so we can have someone decent try to do what is best for our state and our country. It was a sad day in America to elect a president from the most corrupt state government in our country and think that he is any different from our governor. They both should resign as soon as possible. - BOBBI
I am happy that he has finally been arrested, He has betrayed the sacred trust of the people of Illinois. He has been arrogant and smug in his illegal actions. he has clearly shown that his only interest is himself and his pocketbook, He should be ashamed to call himself governor. The people of Illinois deserve much, much better. I also do not favor a pardon for ex Governor Ryan. Let him stay right where he is. Thank you. Lita Olvera
Its about time he was arrested. One up for the people of Illinois. Maybe after 2 Govenors in prison the people will finally wake up and take ownership of their government and get rid of the rest of them. IMPEACH now and lets move on. Todd Edwards
It's about time they put him on trial and in jail, the people of il. are fed up with corruption, get him out!!!!!!! Karen
It proves that Art Linletter was wrong... "People aren't Funny" People are Stupid. He already knew he was being investigated. He knew what happened to Gov. Ryan. He knew most of the state hates him. Then he does this? Stupid... and not funny! Ronda
Generally when the FBI is involved in a case of corruption or conspiracy, everything sticks. I will go over the details of the complaint but if its true then he should be made an example. I can't believe anyone would have the STONES to do this expecially after seeing what happened for former gov ryan. I total travesty to the ILLINOIS political system. Carlos Ortiz
Unbelievable disgusted. I was feeling pretty bad already but if some of this is true Mr. Fitzgerald was correct - this is a new low. It is so outlandish and open it is still somewhat unbelievable. It almost sounds like a joke or bad dream. Unfortunately I don't think I will be able to wake up. Norman
General Assembly needs to head down to Springfield today and get the impeachment started. I am a democrat who voted republican for the first time in the last govenors election because I knew this man was evil. We have huge issues in Illinois and cannot waste time on this piece of garbage. All of you who voted party line...shame on you! wilbsnodgrassiii@yahoo.com
First it was the heated driveway he thought he deserved, then he voted against the Autism bill after he promised to support it and now this. Still, he's innocent until proven guilty. I just don't like the guy. Deborah P.
It's a sad day for the people of the state, but is nonetheless overdue. Hopefully he can get a prison cell right next to George Ryan so they can exchange thoughts on violation of the public trust. - Duane Barcena
I think he should share a cell with Ryan. This should keep Dick Durbin busy for a while. What a slap in the face to the people of Illinois, again !! - Mary Ann Katz
Sadly, the arrest of Rod Blagojevich won't put a stop to the corruption that has long plagued our state. There are more politicians, just like him, waiting in the wings. Jackie
It's about time! The people of Illinois should be grateful for the early Christmas gift. God Bless the USA. - Dianne Hardekopf
Who is in charge? Can he still be Governor? What is the next step for the Senate? - Frank Graser
It's about time..... Now we can have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS........ - Henry Bowman
Christmas has arrived early for me. Couldn't have happened to a bigger weasel. John
It's about time. From what I have read so far there should be a few more getting locked up before it is over. This is an embarrassment to the people of Illinois. - Dennis
Time brings on a change for the better!!! LOL. - D. McCarty
I'm disappointed in the behavior of a man that I thought would bring to the Governor's Office, the values and work ethics of his immigrant parents. I was wrong. - Dawn McGlone
It is about time, Illinois doesn't deserve to have a crook for a governor. I am sorry I voted for him. Didn't he learn anything from what happened to George Ryan. Shame on you Blagojevich, it goes to show that ya get what ya give!!! - Lois Bentley
It is about time. He should resign before he can do more damage to the citizens of Illinois. - Michael Kenny
This is another horrible day for Illinois. We would like to trust our politicians. When will that day come? If this allegation is true, the gov. deserves prison. - Bethlehem School 7th and 8th grade
Fitzgerald is the greatest thing EVER to happen to this city. Keep 'em coming. You know that Blago the Weasel will turn on any and all that can help his cause. I wonder how close, the very well protected, Daley and his cronies are to this? Chog
He just didn't get it... if his own father-in-law, who helped put him into the governor's chair, kept away from him.. isn't that an indication of the character and morality of the man? We here in Illinois now have a history of unimaginable corruption... what about Stroger? Over 10% tax and going higher? Mismanagement?? Or his setting the pace for a higher political job. - Nancy Burton
Woo hoo!!! I love it when Karma comes around! Susan
It was just a matter of time. Illinois must pressure the Governor to resign or we the people should demand that he (Governor) be impeached as soon as possible. - Rita Hodorowich
Mike Flannery said it all. Hey, maybe we should try to get Kris Habermehl to finish out Obama's term. Besides being a detail-oriented wonk with great integrity in his work, he could filibuster the bleep off of anyone in government - a valuable skill! But I know he wouldn't want the job - would he? - Jean SmilingCoyote
I am ashamed to be a life-long resident of Illinois. Governors, Cook County politicians, mayors, this state is full of crooks. I only wish more arrests like this were made to clean up the state. Until then, I am seriously considering moving. Jennifer
What took so long? Is this a sign of what the Obama administration will be like? You can take the politician out of Chicago, but you can't take the Chicago out of the politician. Elaine
Maybe this will teach all you knee-jerk democrats, hopefully Daley and Stroger jr will be next!! The feds have only scratched the surface. They should look into more city corruption, then look into county corruption - that will keep them busy for awhile. I'll pay good tax dollars to see the corrupt go away rather then to keep contributing to their ineptness. The rest of the country laughs at us. Failing schools, soaring taxes, rampant crime, the mayor selling off tax paid entities to pay lazy union workers over-scale wages !! I'm sure Obama with all his talk of change, and all it got us is the Clinton cabinet again and more corrupt Illinois ilk, will really change things. Boy I can't wait for the Olympics to see how the unions and dems screw that up for us too ... - Kevin
I think it's a disgrace to not only himself but to the people of the great state of Illinois. He just gave us a black eye that we didn't ask for. For years he has preached his innocence and yet out of nowhere he manages to get himself arrested. This is lower than low. I actually hold up George Ryan with a higher regard than soon to be Governor Rod. What a scum bag. A true scum bag. I plan on writing my congressman immediately call for his impeachment. - Israel Sanders
Get him! What an arrogant fool he is to be so brazen while he knew he was under investigation. He deserves everything the criminal justice system can do to him. Let him share a cell with George Ryan. - Patti Lossau
Just and about time. This is such an embarrassment for the State of Illinois. I really feel for our President Elect coming from our state, hopefully this won't put any kind of stain on his Presidency. - Kimberly Dargert
LOVE IT! As a tax activist who fights daily for justice, it is good to see powerful peddlers of our sacred country brought to justice. Hoosier
The man is a crook. When he went downstate it was Chicago Democratic Politics moved to Springfield. He should be impeached for the amount of money we taxpayers have paid for his private jet commutes from Chicago to Springfield!!!!! He has a total disregard for the people of Illinois. Kathy
I am so surprised that the Governor is so blatant in his actions. This is embarrassing to the residents of Illinois, the ones who put him in office. Two in a row down for the count...it's a shame. Terri
I firmly believe, now, that ALL government is criminal here in the united states. I'm thinking about quitting my job as I have saved enough money to live, at current prices, for 2 years. What is the United States anymore? I think everything it used to stand for was and is lie. Jeff
Thank God they finally got him. Hope they prosecute the Candidate for the seat who was willing to pay for it also. Hope it was Emil Jones & his nepotism. We have had enough of this Buddy System. Debra
It would be easy to say, "What took them so long?" but I have to say that the Feds acted with dispatch this time. My word to the legislature: Impeach NOW, WITH DISPATCH! - Art Reis
We are very lucky to have U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald on our side. His integrity and perseverance deserve our respect. Blagojevich, just another politician looking out for himself at our expense. - Angie Woltman
IT"S ABOUT BLOODY TIME. Peggy
I hope they investigate the Inspector General of the Illinois Tollway Commission. My guess is you could find enough corruption in that office to fill Soldier Field Robert
This is one of the lowest point for anyone in office to do. These politicians in Illinois leave a lot to desire. It is a fact the majority of our Illinois politicians are crooked! They ALL should go to jail! Juanita
No really...I am curious, who voted for this clown? Luci
I think that they should start the impeachment process immediately. I think the Lt. governor should take over right away. No more decisions for Blagojevich!!!! He had done nothing but lie to the citizens of IL and that needs to stop now! - Lois Bentley
I am wondering why his wife wasn't arrested also!!! jean
This really doesn't shock me at all, after what I have heard prior over the last few years, about our Governor Blagojevich. It's a shame. I am Serbian Nationality, all of my friends voted for him, but not me. Now I am glad I didn't. He should go to court, and he should get what he deserves. We certainly don't need someone like this, in the highest office of our State, to lead us. What is wrong with this world we live in? - Ljiljana Snyder
