Police Continue Search For 'High Risk' Missing Man

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) ― A man who went missing Wednesday night following a domestic dispute with his girlfriend had not been located as of Sunday afternoon, but police said he might have returned to his home state of Louisiana.

Charles Cooper, 31, was staying with his friend in the Wicker Park neighborhood when he got into an argument with his girlfriend Wednesday night, according to Grand Central Area detectives.

Cooper left the residence, located near 1400 N. Milwaukee Ave., before midnight and has had no contact with friends or family members since, police said. He reportedly has a history of threatening suicide, but did not make such threats Wednesday night.

Cooper has not been to work since he was reported missing, police said Sunday.

"Back in October, he took off for Louisiana, where he is from, for a month," a Grand Central Area detective said Sunday. "It could go either way, but we are still looking for him."

Police describe Cooper as white, about 6 feet tall and 160 pounds with black hair and brown eyes, police said. He was last seen wearing a black nylon parka with fur trim on its hood, black jeans, a t-shirt and a navy blue v-neck sweater.

Police are also looking for Cooper's vehicle, a 1998 gray or silver Toyota Camry 4-door with a license plate number of 5091378.

Anyone with information on Cooper's whereabouts can contact Grand Central Area Special Victim's Unit at (312) 746-8365.
