Last Minute New Year's Eve Ideas For Any Budget

CHICAGO (CBS) ― If you still don't have plans for New Year's Eve, the clock is ticking. CBS 2's Vince Gerasole reports on ideas for every budget.

You may be set to party tonight, but musician Don Hedeker with the Polkaholics is getting ready to work.

"Today I went to the Internet and set my wrist watch to that official time," Hedecker said. "The other time we had a show where the bass player started counting off and I said 'wait, wait, I am counting."

Stepping into the New Year with the Polkaholics at the DANK Haus will cost you just $4.99.

If you'd rather get wired at a pricier celebration, the Hilton Chicago is putting the finishing touches on a big band ballroom extravaganza for $200 a person.

Robert Allegrini of the Hilton Chicago said the evening's theme will be one that is carnival-based.

"It's evocative of Rio de Janiero, but people have more clothes on," he said.

The price includes a six course dinner and a chance to taste the intoxicatingly smooth Brazilian Rum Motini.

Fireworks fanatics take note --- the city -- to help cut costs --- has combined its pyrotechnic extravaganza into a single show at Navy Pier

As the ballroom is prepared for the blowout including bands and multiple DJ's, there is also word a giant screen wedding proposal will take place 15 minutes before midnight.

"It's a mystery so everyone preparing to come to Navy Pier tonight with significant others, it might be you," said Delores Robinson.

New Year's is a time for those who aren't chicken to celebrate.

"We played the chicken dance for 10 or 15 minuets and people were going nuts," Hedecker said. "Hundreds of people in this mosh pit in fnot of us just chicken dancing and going crazy."
