1 Dead, Another Injured In Morton Grove Collision
MORTON GROVE, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) ―
A man was killed and another person was injured in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning near north suburban Morton Grove.
The accident happened about 10:30 a.m. about a mile west of Harms Road on Golf Road, according to Cook County Sheriff's police spokeswoman Lisa Gordon.
The driver of a car was traveling west when he crossed the center line and struck another vehicle, according to Gordon, who said the collision was not head-on but damaged the left fronts of both cars.
The driver of the first car was extricated by fire crews and was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge where he was pronounced dead, Gordon said.
The driver, a 46-year-old man, was pronounced dead at 11:10 a.m., according to a Cook County Medical Examiner's office spokeswoman, who said the man's identity was pending family notification.
The driver of the second vehicle was also taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital where they were listed in "stable" condition, Gordon said.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation and Gordon could not confirm whether drugs or alcohols were involved in the crash.
An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
Cook County Sheriff's police are investigating.
