Lake County Man Charged With Sex Assault Of Minor

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) ― Bond has been set at $250,000 for north suburban man charged with the sexual assault of the daughter of a close friend, authorities announced Friday.

Michael H. Moore, 36, of 18733 W. Gages Lake Rd. in Gages Lake, has been charged with one count of predatory criminal sexual assault, a Class X felony, according to a release from the Lake County Sheriff's office.

Moore was brought Friday before Judge Raymond Collins, who set bond at $250,000, according to the release. If convicted, Moore faces six to 30 years in prison.

The case came to light when the step-father of the victim came forward with the allegations as told to him by his stepdaughter, the release said.

The ensuing investigation revealed the alleged incidents took place with about four years ago, when the victim was between 10 and 11 years old and Moore was considered a close family friend, the release said.

After interviewing both Moore and the victim, investigators believe there were six to 10 sexual assaults during that time period.

Investigators will work with the Lake County State's Attorney's office in an attempt to add further charges, the release said.

Moore will appear April 2 for a status of attorney hearing, the release said.
