Man Arrested After Woman's Body Found In Car Trunk

FRANKFORT, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) ― An "acquaintance" has been charged with murder in the death of woman whose body was found in the trunk of her car Friday morning in the southwest suburb.

Brian W. Trainauskas, 33, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and concealing a homicide in the death of Monica Timar, Will County Sheriff's spokesman Pat Barry said.

Timar, whose age has been reported as both 33 and 36, was reported missing Wednesday from her residence in the 20100 block of South Hampton Court in the Frankfort Square neighborhood.

"Her brother, who lives in Chicago and a male friend who lives in Bourbonnais contacted sheriff's police to report she was missing," Barry said. "They said Monica had been suffering from depression and made suicide threats on previous occasions so they were concerned."

As detectives began investigating, they reportedly learned Thursday that Timar had contacted Trainauskas, who owns several firearms, to borrow a gun to commit suicide.

At 7:22 a.m. Friday, a resident of the 21000 block of South 78th Avenue called to report Timar's white 2007 Ford parked on the street with " a large amount" of blood on the bumper and trunk.

Timar's body was found in the trunk. Barry said it appears she had been shot, but the coroner's office will determine the cause of her death during an autopsy Saturday.

"Investigators canvased the area and learned the car had been parked there since Thursday and people had noticed the blood on the vehicle, but did not report it," Barry said.

Police also reportedly learned a man matching Trainauskas description had been seen in the area.

Barry said when Trainauskas was brought in for questioning he "gave a statement to the effect that she had killed herself and he had freaked out and moved her body."

Based on that statement, detectives obtained a search warrant for Trainauskas' house at 20855 S. Acorn Ridge.

"When Crime scene investigators looked at the residence, they determined the information given by the suspect did not match the physical evidence," Barry said.

Trainauskas was questioned further and implicated his involvement in Timar's death, Barry said.

"Detectives were then able to recover a weapon and other evidence," Barry said.

The investigation was led by Detective Dan Troike, Sgt. Steve Talmontas and Lt. Bill Carlyle.

"Our guys did a great job to obtain an arrest within 24 hours of the body's discovery," Barry said.

Trainauskas was ordered held without bond during a Saturday morning hearing, and is slated to appear for a preliminary hearing Monday afternoon, Barry said.
