Investigation Ongoing For Shooting Death of Mom

CHICAGO (CBS) ― The investigation continues Saturday into the shooting death of a young mother in Little Village. Isabel Gordillo was found dead inside her garage Friday morning, as CBS 2's Suzanne Le Mignot reports.

"She was so heartwarming and caring and she was a very hard-working person," said Gordillo's mother, Darlene.

Darlene Gordillo says, her daughter Isabel Gordillo never missed a day of work. That's why Darlene knew something was wrong. Isabel's boss called. He said her daughter hadn't arrived yet. Darlene, went to the family garage to see if Isabel had left.

"That's when I found her in the backseat, in a puddle of blood," Gordillo said.

Police say someone shot the 25-year-old woman in the neck and left arm. Her purse was still in the car. The person closed the garage door with the remote, then threw it in the neighbors yard, from the alley.

"She's like my other half…I just feel empty right now," said Guadalupe Gordillo Jr., the victim's brother.

Isabel's family says the person responsible for her shooting had to know Isabel's routine. She left the garage every morning at 5:15. The shooting happened between 5:15 a.m. and 9 a.m.

"If anybody knows anything; if anybody heard anything; if anybody's seen anything – somebody running through the yards – just let the police know,' said Darlene Perez, Gordillo's sister.

"She had no enemies," said Darlene Gordillo.

She leaves behind a five-year-old son, Antonio. Isabel worked a a forklift operator. She drove from her home in Little Village to Romeoville each day. She loaded trucks for more than 10 hours every shift, just to provide for her son.

"I'm going to do the best I can, but I wish she was here to watch him grow," said Darlene Gordillo.

The visitation for Isabel Gordillo will be Tuesday afternoon at the Frank Merrick Funeral home and her funeral will be Wednesday at St. Agnes.
