Woman Dead After Car Strikes Tree On South Side

CHICAGO (STNG) ― A woman died Thursday morning after her vehicle struck a tree on Lake Shore Drive on the South Side.

At 8:26 a.m., a vehicle struck a tree in the 4700 block of South Lake Shore Drive, according to police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak.

Emergency crews responded to the pin-in accident in the northbound lanes and discovered a deceased woman, Fire Media Affairs Asst. Director Eve Rodriguez said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office said a 51-year-old woman, whose name was not being released, was pronounced dead at Provident Hospital of Cook County at 9:10 a.m.

An autopsy was scheduled for Friday.
