CHICAGO (CBS) ― The Jewish Federation of North America met in Chicago Sunday in a sign of solidarity to raise money for those in Israel who have been displaced by the ongoing fighting.

As CBS 2's Dana Kozlov reports, Karnit Goldwasser, the wife of a captured Israeli soldier, is attending the fundraiser at a temple on Chicago's North Side.

His parents were also at the fundraiser to tell their story of heartache and hope that he will be returned alive.

"We came to talk through the media. Maybe we can ask from Hezbollah, from the wives of Hezbollah, to help me as a wife, wife to wife, to bring me a message that my love, my soul mate, my precious is still alive," Goldwasser said.

Theirs is just one side of a very volatile issue. A member of the American Lebanese Alliance issued the following statement.

"I understand Israel has the right to live in peace… but do not support the attacks on bridges and infrastructure," said Nohra Nasrl, who is a Christian Lebanese American. "Hezbollah has no right to act as a militia inside Lebanon.
