Ceremony Set To Honor Fallen Soldier
MIDLOTHIAN, Ill. (AP) ―
The Village of Midlothian is will hold a ceremony Friday, where the Illinois National Guard will honor a fallen soldier and present several awards.
Army Sgt. Christopher Abeyta, a 23-year-old Midlothian resident, was killed in action in Afghanistan in March.
During the memorial at Bremen High School on Nov. 3, his family will donate his uniforms to the Midlothian Historical Society.
The Village of Midlothian will also be awarded the Patriot Award by a Department of Defense organization that recognizes companies that support National Guard and Reserve soldiers.
In addition, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion will present awards to Midlothian resident Frank Bock for his service in World War II and for his son's service in the Vietnam War.
