Aurora police have arrested a 39-year-old man on charges of indecent solicitation of a child he allegedly met through MySpace.
Daniel A. Modaff of the 700 block of Colorado Street in Marseilles, about 50 miles southwest of Aurora, is believed to have contacted the 13-year-old Aurora boy on MySpace on Thursday, Jan. 15, according to a release from police.
Modaff communicated with the teen in a chat room and then found the boy's cell phone number on his MySpace page. He traded text messages over two days with the boy, then met him near the boy's home, the release said.
Modaff had sexual contact with the boy in a car near the boy's home, the release said. Additional charges relating to this inappropriate contact are expected.
The boy's parents found the text messages on his cell phone and called police on Friday. Modaff, apparently unaware police were now involved, continued to text the boy's cell phone to arrange another meeting.
The meeting was arranged and Modaff arrived around 6 p.m. Saturday at a fast food restaurant on the 2500 block of Ogden Avenue to be greeted by Aurora police officers. He was arrested without incident, the release said.
The abuse took place in the DuPage County portion of Aurora, and Aurora police are currently working with the DuPage County State's Attorney on the case.
