A former northwest suburban woman has been sentenced to three years in prison for abducting her children and taking them to California in 2004.
Crystel A. Strelioff, 53, formerly of West Dundee and with a last known address in Newhall, Calif., was sentenced Friday by Associate Judge T. Jordan Gallagher, according to a release from the Kane County State's Attorney's office.
On Feb. 5, 2009, after a three-day trial, a Kane County jury convicted Strelioff of four counts of child abduction, each a Class 4 felony, the release said.
In February 2004, Strelioff intentionally violated a court order by taking her two children from the jurisdiction of the Kane County Court.
In addition to prison, she was ordered to pay $73,340 in restitution to Brian Strelioff, the children's father, according to the release.
Strelioff was sentenced to three years in prison, but given credit for 185 days served in the Kane County Jail. She was also given day-for-day sentencing, the release said.
