Chicago Cops To Help At Inauguration

CHICAGO (AP) ― Nearly 50 officers from the Chicago Police Department are heading to Washington, D.C. to help with managing crowds for the presidential inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama.

Chicago Police Supt. Jody Weis says the 48 officers have been chosen for their expertise.

Police say the absence of the officers won't affect the day-to-day operations of the agency in Chicago.

Nearly 100 police agencies nationwide are helping.

The Chicago police officers depart Sunday morning from O'Hare International Airport.
