The niece of a Chicago man killed in last week's terrorist attacks in India says he was shot to death after he identified himself as an American.
Sonal Jeswani says family members have learned that Indian-born Sandeep "Sam" Jeswani was killed after he presented the gunman with identification.
The 22-year-old woman says her uncle was in Mumbai on business and was having dinner in a Mumbai hotel when he died. Another family member says four others eating with Jeswani were also shot to death.
The account of Jeswani's death follows State Department reports that the gunmen targeted American citizens and other westerners.
Jeswani was among at least 170 people killed in the attacks.
The State Department says six Americans were among the dead. But they have not identified the victims.
