A young couple gunned down in their own home. But there was no forced entry -- and no witnesses.
Now a local neighborhood is turned upside down by the double murder, which is still unsolved.
CBS 2's Dana Kozlov reports on the investigation -- and the woman who was questioned in the case.
The quiet Joliet neighborhood is still rocked by the double murder this week.
A Will County sheriff's spokesperson says authorities hope forensic evidence will give them the information they need to solve these murders.
Several bags of evidence were sent to the Northern Illinois Crime Lab Thursday, and police hope to get the results back in a week or so.
In the meantime, neighbors of the young couple are still on edge.
Crime tape still surrounds the modest home in Joliet Township. A light remained on inside. But almost five days after Brian and Angela Charles were found shot to death inside no one is in custody, and so a killer remains at large.
"I'm very fearful because I don't know if it's isolated or what," neighbor Renella Foster said.
Will County Sheriff's police say 31-year old Brian was shot several times. His 23-year-old wife was shot once in the head. The couple's 2-year-old son was found, unharmed, in his crib.
Police say Brian's ex-wife, Kathleen Rundle, discovered Brian Charles' body early Monday morning. She told police she went to their house to get some videos for her and Brian's kids. Police have since revealed the two were involved in a bitter custody battle.
"She was just out there, leaned up agains the car,...did she look upset? No, she didn't."
Will County Sheriff's investigators questioned Charles' ex-wife for about 12 hours earlier this week. A spokesperson says she's now retained an attorney.
Neighbors just hope there's a break in the case soon. Some say they heard a loud noise late Sunday night or early Monday morning. Others still can't believe the crimes happened on their block.
Manuel Reyes, a neighbor of the victims, said he didn't hear any gunshots.
But all who knew the Charles family say one thing is clear: This was a nice couple trying to make life better for themselves and the people around them.
Besides their 2-year-old son, Brian Charles is survived by his two children from his marriage to Kathleen Rundle.
The couple's wake and memorial service is Saturday.
