Woman 8 Months Pregnant Hit By Car In Loop
Driver Stops, Woman Suffers Minor Injuries
CHICAGO (STNG) ―
A woman who is reportedly eight months pregnant fell after a car turning right hit her in the Loop on Thursday afternoon. The driver, who stopped immediately, will be ticketed, according to police.
The accident happened at 300 W. Randolph St. at 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Randolph Street and Franklin Street, according to police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.
"She was not hit hard but she still fell,'' according to a police Major Accidents Investigation Unit sergeant. "She's in pretty good shape,'' the sergeant said, but the condition of the fetus is unknown.
The woman was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, the sergeant said. Witnesses said the car was making a legal right turn on a red light, the sergeant said.
The driver stopped immediately and may be cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian, the sergeant said.
