5 Patrons Shot Leaving Marquette Park Bar
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) ―
Four men and a woman exiting a bar were shot early Saturday in the South Side's Marquette Park neighborhood.
The shooting happened about 4:15 a.m. in the 6800 block of South Talman Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.
Four men and a woman were walking from a bar to a vehicle when an unidentified man approached and opened fire, police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez said. The name of the establishment was not immediately available.
Fire Media Affairs spokesman Quention Curtis said paramedics took two men and a woman to area hospitals in critical condition. Two people went to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and one person went to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County.
Curtis said a fourth person took themselves to an unidentified hospital. Greer said the man went to Holy Cross Hospital -- two blocks west of the shooting. A fifth person, also a man, suffered a graze wound and refused medical treatment, Perez said.
Perez said as of Saturday morning none of the injuries appear to be life-threatening.
Witnesses told police there was no altercation inside the establishment prior to the shooting, police said. Detectives are still trying to establish a motive Saturday morning.
The gunman is described as a 6-foot, 200-pound black man in his 20s. He had a light complexion and dreadlocks and was wearing dark clothing, Perez said.
Wentworth Area detectives are investigating, but nobody is in custody Saturday morning.
