Authorities Mull New Charges In Shaken-Baby Case
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) ―
Prosecutors in Madison County are weighing whether the recent death of a girl disabled after being shaken by her father years ago warrants new charges against him.
Taylor Pinkas Rogers was 9 when she died Jan. 24.
She was an infant when her father, Torrance "Tyrone" Rogers of Edwardsville, violently shook her to make her stop crying. That left Taylor with limited brain capacity and requiring around-the-clock care.
Her father pleaded guilty in 2001, received a 15-year prison sentence and was paroled in 2007.
A spokeswoman for the prosecutor's office says it is looking at its options to see if any additional charges can be filed. She didn't elaborate.
Rogers couldn't be reached for comment.
