Possible Explosives Turned in to Marine Facility
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) ―
Police Bomb & Arson Section investigators were called to a U.S. Marine Corps facility Sunday afternoon after a civilian turned in what he thought was two explosive devices to the Northwest Side facility.
About 12:30 p.m., officers from the police Bomb & Arson Section responded to 3034 W. Foster Ave. after a civilian reportedly turned over what he thought was an explosive device, police said.
As of 3 p.m., bomb technitians remained on the scene of the facility, which also functioned as a weapons turn-in, according to the Bomb and Arson Unit.
No injuries or evacuations have been reported, police said.
According to the U.S. Marines' Web site, a U.S. Marine Corps Reserve facility is located at the Foster Avenue address.
Further details were not immediately available.
Albany Park District police were also investigating.
