Face Lift Tape A Painless Alternative To Surgery

CHICAGO (CBS) ― Forget the scalpels. Now you can get a younger-looking face without surgery, needles or pain.

It's called a "tape lift" and it doesn't require incisions or stitches. Wrinkles are removed using tape and wraps.

Betty Strelow, 58, had a series of four tape lifts.

"After the first time of having it done, the results, I was impressed," Strelow said.

"Generally with one taping you're gonna get a really visible result, you're gonna get a serious reduction in bags and lines," said spa owner Holly Rehsuss.

The tape lift comes from a technology called Suddenly Slender, where the body is wrapped to shrink fat and tighten skin.

"It's a great, all natural procedure," Rehsuss said.

First, exfoliation opens the pores. Then, tape is applied to whatever you want lifted – droopy eyes, laugh lines or sagging chins.

Afterward, the face is wrapped in bandages which have been soaked in a secret blend of minerals. The spa owner says that essentially dehydrates and plumps up the skin.

"As the minerals soak into the skin, impurities are coming out and it's tightening and toning up the skin. So, it just kinda stays," Rehsuss said.

The results last just a couple of months, and although there are no scientific studies on the process, Strelow says she sees differences.

"Especially in the jaw area, that's where it really became significant after having it done – that and my eyes," she said.

"Comparing it to surgery, it's more instant gratification, it's painless and it's less expensive," Strelow added. "You come out an hour and a half later and you look good."

Each session costs around $99. Three or four are recommended, depending on your age. And, since the results are only temporary, you'll need follow-up treatments a few times a year.
