Hospitals Implement New Visitors Policy For H1N1
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) ―
The Cook County Health and Hospitals System's new visitors policy catered to fighting the spread of H1N1 goes into effect Wednesday.
Visitors to John H. Stroger, Jr., Oak Forest, and Provident hospitals of Cook County must be over the age of 18, and visitors with known fevers or sore throats cannot visit the hospital, according to a release from the Cook County Health and Hospitals System.
Visitors who are allowed in the patient's room will be required to wear gloves and masks upon entering, and to remove gloves and wash their hands upon exiting, the release said.
Patients with or possibly with H1N1 will only be allowed to leave their rooms for essential medical procedures and will be required to wear surgical masks if they leave their rooms, according to the release.
