Blago Pal's Guilty Plea Delayed

CHICAGO (AP) ― A court session at which a longtime friend and aide of ousted Gov. Rod Blagojevich planned to plead guilty has been postponed.

Alonzo "Lon" Monk had been scheduled to change his plea from not guilty to guilty Wednesday on charges in the federal investigation of corruption swirling through the Blagojevich administration.

At the last minute Tuesday, the hearing for the 50-year-old former Blagojevich chief of staff was postponed until Oct. 20.

Monk's attorneys have been trying at least since July to make a deal under which he would plead guilty and cooperate in the investigation but the efforts have repeatedly misfired.
