Radiohead Packs Grant Park On Day 1 Of Lolla

Sweltering Heat Not Enough To Deter Thousands Of Music Fans From Streaming Into Grant Park

CHICAGO (CBS) ― Radiohead wrapped up the first day Friday of the fourth annual Lollapalooza festival in Chicago.

At dusk, music fans streamed into Grant Park, though people had been arriving since the doors opened at 11 a.m. More than 100 bands will be playing over the course of the weekend on eight different stages.

The festival opened under a blistering sun with temperatures at times reaching high in the upper 80s, but no one seemed to mind.

Rolando Franco of Little Village said, while there was no really good way of staying cool, he planned on drinking lots of water and concentrating on the music.

Hundreds of thousands of people are expected at Lollapalooza this year. For many, there's no other concert like it.

"It's pretty much like the modern-day Woodstock," said Brittany Savas of Atlanta. "[There's] no other place where you can see this many bands for 100, 200 bucks."
