It won't be listed in the credits with Johnny Depp, but one of the biggest stars in "Public Enemies" is Chicago.
The events depicted in the new film not only took place in Chicago, but director Michael Mann used the city to tell the story, from the "L" tracks to the Aragon ballroom.
And when it came time to show the night John Dillinger was gunned down outside the Biograph Theater on Lincoln Avenue, Mann shot the scene exactly where these events unfolded.
Chicago History Museum Curator John Russick says Mann transformed the street into what it looked like that night in 1934.
Mann filmed other scenes where the actual events took place -- from the Indiana jail Dillinger broke out of to the Wisconsin lodge where he escaped after a gun battle with the FBI.
