Marilyn Monroe Sex Tape Sells For $1.5 Million

LOS ANGELES (CBS) ― No one ever said the words "Marilyn Monroe" and "sex tape" in the same breath publicly - until now. A 16-millimeter film said to show the blonde bombshell with an unidentified man has just been sold.

Now many are wondering if it will ever see the light of day.

When you think of Marilyn Monroe, you may picture images of a glamour goddess, smiling for the cameras that loved every second of her life.

Blowing kisses to a public that adored her and then there was the sensuous side of Marilyn - going "au natural" for the first edition of "Playboy Magazine" and the last photos she took before her untimely death.

Now there's an apparent scandalous side, a 15-minute film of the icon performing a sex act on an unidentified man.

A copy of that reel - still labeled "classified" by the FBI - was just sold to a New York businessman for $1.5 million. His intention, according to a memorabilia collector, is to keep those images private, reported CBS station KCBS-TV in Los Angeles.

"The gentleman who bought it said out of respect for Marilyn, he's not going to make a joke of it and put it on the Internet and try to exploit her," according to memorabilia collector Keya Morgan. "That's not his intention and I would never get my name involved if that were to happen."

According to sources, when the tape was discovered in the 1960s, then-FBI director J. Edgar Hoover was obsessed with finding out whether the unidentified man on the film was either President John F. Kennedy or his brother Bobby.

To this date, no one knows who that man was and until now, very few knew that this film even existed.

According to those declassified documents, one person who did know about the footage was Marilyn's ex-husband, Joe DiMaggio. He apparently tried to buy it for $25,000, but to no avail.
