STOCKHOLM, Sweden (AP) ―
Pop musician Sting and rapper and producer Kanye West are the main attractions as the Stockholm Jazz Festival kicks off Tuesday.
West, who has produced two multi-platinum albums, is scheduled to hit the stage on July 20 while Sting is slated to perform the next day as part of his Broken Music Tour.
At least 25,000 people are expected to attend the outdoor concerts on the small island of Skeppsholmen in downtown Stockholm. Other featured acts include Miriam Makeba, Kenny Garrett, the Neville Brothers and Maceo Parker.
Stockholm Jazz Festival, one of Stockholm's biggest annual music events, is in its 23rd year and runs from July 18-22. It will feature 41 concerts.
Organizers said a smaller jazz festival will be held in Stockholm on Aug. 19-20 to raise money for the New Orleans Musicians' Clinic, an emergency fund that helps musicians from New Orleans in need of assistance after Hurricane Katrina, which hit New Orleans on Aug. 29 last year.
