If you're trying not to spend money on clothes, but you want new outfits, we may have an idea for you. You can stretch your dollar by swapping.
Erin Chase and her friends are getting together for a clothing swap party.
"I thought it was a dynamite idea," Erin said.
Spend an evening with friends and bring clothes to trade.
Kathryn Finney of theĀ
TheBudgetFashionista.com says it's one of this year's hottest trends.
"It's a way to sort of build up your closet without having to open your wallet, and right now with the challenges we're facing in our economy, that's a great thing," Finney said.
You can swap anything - clothing, shoes, even handbags. Just remember - the items should be in prime condition - no holes, no rips.
"That's very, very important because one of the things that can make a clothing swap party kind of go south is if you have items that are really not tradable," Finney said.
Accessories like belts and sunglasses are always a big hit because they're sizeless and classic.
The goods at Erin's house went fast.
"I can't wait to tell these other gal friends that I'm friendly with to do the same thing," Erin said.
Finney says not only is this a great idea for adults, high school kids will love it, too.
