Clipping coupons and watching for sales are great ways to save money on groceries. But let's face it, sometimes it's a pain. What if you could get the computer to do it for you? It's just another way to "stretch your dollar."
It's lunch time for Ann Hayes and her family. Today at their house in Oak Lawn, tortillas are on the menu. Ann has four kids in private school, so saving money on food is a necessity.
Ann found a website that helps her do that: mygrocerydeals.com.
"It tells you every store that has that item on sale," Ann said.
It lets her know what's on sale at nearby supermarkets.
"If I'm gonna buy something, I can find which store has it on sale at the cheapest price," Ann said. "At least I know, at the very least, I've saved something."
The website lets you create a shopping list, and add to it. It also has coupons you can print out.
"It's no different than somebody taking the sales papers that come in the mail and flipping through the ads and kind of making a list," Ann said. "Never been real good with lists and doing things that way. This way, it's just the technology does it all for me."
Ann figures that she saves $50 a week by using mygrocerydeals.com. She lives close to several grocery stores so it's easier to pursue her deals.
